The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) has provided professional arts training to high school students since 1973.

Today, NOCCA offers curriculum to students across the state in areas such as: Creative Writing, Culinary Arts, Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. Beginning in the fall of 2011, NOCCA will offer a full-day option for students — one that includes not only training in the arts, but also study in academic subjects.

NOCCA’s mission to provide professional arts training, coaching, and performance opportunities for high school level students who aspire to be creative artists. Students are expected to have and develop the following qualities:

  • Talent
  • Commitment to their art
  • Self-direction
  • Discipline
  • Continued growth

NOCCA’s Academic Studio is our host for the Design Day 2011 Event as part of their Friday Discover Series. The goal of the series is to offer students opportunities to explore relevant areas of interest with topic experts such as: How the Brian Learns, Finding a Sense of Purpose, What it Means to be an Artist, and the Rights and Responsibilities of Civic Engagement. NOCCA believes these ideas are critical to developing future leaders for the creative and cultural economy of our nation.
